We are a Club, not a collection of teams

ABOUT US

Leek Wootton FC are a junior club, part of the Leek Wootton Sports Club. We coach children from age 5 onwards, developing the key skills required as your child goes through our age groups, towards senior 11-a-side football.

First and foremost, we are a club and not a collection of individual teams. All of our coaches work together for the benefit of the club. This forms an important part of our club ethos and ensures that our players have a safe, stable and secure environment to develop as players and as young people. Our close co-operation provides benefits, both on and off the field of play.

We have teams in three different leagues, catering for all footballing abilities.

COACHING

At Leek Wootton FC, we pride ourselves on providing the best possible standards of coaching for our players, teaching them not just about the skills and tactical know-how, but also how to love the game. We are an FA Charter Standard Club and, as such, all of our coaches are FA qualified to Level 1 (and above) or in the process of achieving their coaching accreditation.

Being an FA Charter Standard Club means that we are challenged by the FA to maintain our high standards, make positive changes to the way our club is run and to our players' enjoyment of playing football.

All of our coaches have been subject to safeguarding checks and meet the club's recruitment criteria

HISTORY

Cricket has been played in the village of Leek Wootton for over a century and there has been a football presence in the village, on and off the years, but it was only in 2008 that the club really started to develop. In those early days, it was just one team that progressed all the way to under 16's and when they finished it was decided to launch the club across a wider age group.

Club Chairman, Paul Baigent, was the founder and he, along with Rob Sawyer, went about launching a new set of teams from under 8's onwards. That was as recent as 2013 and the teams gradually developed with the Nippers development squad maintaining a constant flow of new teams joining at the younger age groups. Now, with 14 teams, we are one of the biggest clubs in the area and are always on the lookout for new youngsters to develop their talents with us.

The club has a fine reputation as a friendly and developing club, winning our fair share of silverware over the seasons. We took the decision to enter our strongest teams into the Midland Junior Premier League in 2016 and we have had 3 age groups playing at that level although this season just 2 play at Midlands level. We have close links with our nearby professional clubs with our Midlands teams regularly competing with their shadow teams.

Although a relatively new club, we aim to create quite a bit of history...
